Walk the Walk When it Comes to Fitness... Your Heart Will Love You for It!
Keeping your heart healthy takes action on your part – and the great news is that it can be easy and fun, even in the middle of a workday .
How? Start a Mikey Walking Club and join us at the Mikeynetwork.com!
As part of a heart-smart lifestyle, elevate your heart rate by joining friends and co-workers on a brisk walk for 25 to 30 minutes, two or three times per week. Most people can participate regardless of age, gender or fitness level. Talk, laugh and enjoy as you and your group members reap the benefit of improved health.
Then pay it forward by setting up a group-inspired donation program to The Mikey Network, and help us continue our work in promoting heart-healthy lifestyles and placing public-access defibrillators called Mikeys in high-risk places.
All of us can do it, individuals, an employer, an employee or self-employed, starting a Mikey Walking Club is easy. Just take it one step at a time.
- Make a list of those interested in regular walking outings. A walking club can involve one person, two people, an entire company, or anything in between.
- Determine which days and times are optimum (early morning, lunchtime, after work).
- Identify leaders and those who can support you in establishing the program
- Plan and promote a kick-off event using posters and company-wide email
- Recruit participants
- Hold an introductory meeting
Once your program is established and its benefits become obvious, you can then expand, maintain or modify the program as desired!
